Went to lunch today and when I got back to the office, the way my tires were angled, I happened to see what I thought was a rock in the tread. Turned out it was a screw....fuck. Now it didn't look bad but was concerned they weren't going to repair the tire and I'd have to get a new one. Since I bought them at Costco, they'll pro-rate the replacement based on tread life. Not bad but I really didn't want to have to buy a new tire. On top of that, the tires have just hit 40k and would probably need to be replaced soonish anyway.
Took the tire over to Costco to see what could be done, and they said it would have to be replaced. Dammit. The guy did say the amount they were going to pro-rate the replacement, he'd also pro-rate the second tire since you pretty much need to do two at this point due to age, and the fact that Bridgestone discontinued the Potenza 019 Grid model. At that point I just said fuck it, gimme 4 since Costco had $70 off a set of Bridgestones I couldn't say no. Went with the Potenza RE97AS and after all the discounts, installation, etc, it only cost $318. Now I have to wait until Tuesday for the order to come in and can get the spare off my car.
Side note: That is my ('04 Sentra SE-R slushbox) car shortly after I got her 6 years ago. Unfortunately she is a bit more rough around the edges now as my girl is getting old.

When it comes time to look for a new car, I'm going to have to make the decision based on how much tires cost to replace.

Not too shabby. I paid $872.40 out the door in June!
Then again, they were a set of 4 Michelin Pilot SS's.... ;)
